Founder's Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization
that has awarded academic scholarships and grants to individuals and
organizations since 1997 and provided research and evaluation to human
service organizations since 2004.
Founder's Trust evolved from the Abraxas Foundation, Inc., a pilot
program founded by Arlene Lissner in 1973 for troubled youth and young
adults in Pennsylvania. In 1997, Cornell Companies, Inc., acquired
Abraxas, and the proceeds from this transaction established Founder's
Trust. The original Abraxas treatment program, and the more than 35
juvenile treatment facilities that have been added since 1973, continue
today as an integral part of Cornell's diverse array of programs serving
youth and adults across the country.
To improve understanding of programs for troubled individuals and
positively impact public policy, Founder's Trust expanded its mission
by acquiring the Research and Evaluation (R&E) Department from Cornell
Companies in 2004. Cornell is currently Founder's Trust's largest
client for research and evaluation services and provides Founder's
Trust with administrative support.
Through the wonderful generosity of individuals, private foundations,
and corporations, Founder's Trust continues its work today-providing
scholarships to individuals trying to better their lives, providing
financial resources to treatment organizations that support them,
and conducting research that ultimately benefits both clients and
service providers. |
